* Mr. and Mrs. Robert Holloway were the parents of a son, Terry Lynn, born on April 3rd.

* Craig Phelps of Stockton had received a I Rating at the State Music Festival held in Dodge City and a gold medal for his effort on his French Horn solo. The French Horn Quartet, comprised of Craig Phelps, Bonnie Yoxall, Cheryle Carsten and Kenneth Brunson received a II Rating at the State level.

* Kenneth Bates and Harold Copper had been in Great Bend over the weekend attending the district Rotary Convention with Judge Gilliam, the famous juvenile judge of Denver, Colo., a guest speaker.

* Mrs. John Towns had presented her piano students in a recital at the Congregational Church on April 25th. Taking part were Mark Kreller, Steve Yoxall, Eric Bird, Tessie Korb, Susan Schroer, Linda Dunlap, Linda Lindsey, Linda Smith, Becky Waller, Paul Taylor, Nancy Votapka, Becky Korb, Shelly Conn and Shannon Krysl.

* The Midway Café party room was the scene of a delightful affair in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Maris Store. Former and present employees Mrs. Veda Van Horn, Mrs. Marjorie Maddy, Mrs. Ada Cooper, Mrs. Cora Robinson and Mrs. Libby Kin-caid presented Mrs. E. C. Hageman with a beautiful orchid to be worn throughout the week celebration.

* Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bedore had been the guests of honor at a card party given on April 11th at the Legion Hall to honor their 25th wedding anniversary. The hosts were their children, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Hrabe and Joan and Larry Bedore.

* From The Feminine Slant By the Office Cat: The only absolute way to insure against wars is to make it so that it is impossible to start one until the last one is paid for.

* Looking Backward Fourteen Years Ago: About 175 people had attended the Athletic Banquet at which Ray Evans, the All American halfback, was the guest speaker. Darrell Gartrell had been elected State FFA treasurer. The tower chimes, giving to Webster Methodist Church by Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Schneider, were to be dedicated on May 6th.

* On sale at Boyd & Conn Supermarket were two pounds of skinless wieners for 79¢, three dozen eggs for $1.00, a pound can of Folgers coffee for 79¢ and jumbo cantaloupe for 29¢ each.

* Janie Mauck was the guest of honor at a tenth birthday party given at the home of her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Harold Mauck. Games had been played and a nice lunch with a birthday cake was served. Guests were Jana Westhusin, Nancy Votapka, Linda Dunlap, Andrea Norton, Sandra Arends and Rhonda Cook.

* Showing at the Park Drive-In were the movies “The Outrage” starring Paul Newman, Laurence Harvey and Claire Bloom, and “A Shot in the Dark,” starring Peter Sellers and Elke Sommer.
