* The Stockton Community Chorus was to present “The Messiah” in the Stockton Methodist Church. The chorus was to be directed by Mike Sharp. Soloists were Miss June Meador (soprano), Miss Margie Beth Colburn (contralto), and Ronald Pfleughoft (bass). A tenor had not been announced. Mrs. William Voss was the organ accompanist, and Mrs. Leo Bird was the piano accompanist.

* Chuck Hageman was set to host an Open House for the second home that had been built in the new Hillcrest Addition. The new home at No. 11 Hillcrest was priced at $23,000.00 with FHA, GI and conventional financing available. The next home to be built for Mr. and Mrs. Charles Springer would be at No. 5 Hillcrest Drive.

* Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Turnbull were the parents of a son, Bradley Gene, born on March 16th.

* Another good play, under the direction of Winton Sheffer, was set to delight the people of the area. The senior class was scheduled to present “Desperate Ambrose,” a farce-comedy located in the wild and wooly West. The cast included Richard Desmarteau, Ronald Johnston, Roger Jones, David Knight, Dave Rogers, Ferryl Locke, Jimmy Jackson, Diane Waters, Martha Conn, Janet Leibenau, Janice Liebenau, Wilma Hazen and Maria Ross.

* Mr. and Mrs. L.W. (Wimp) Hulse had announced the opening of their Webster Marina for the 1964 season. During the winter they had repainted the boats and equipment, added new docks and built more trailer space, as well as remodeled the café kitchen.

* Looking Backward Fourteen Years Ago: Lorenzo Fuller had been the winner on the weekly Arthur Godfrey Talent Scout program by singing “Shadrack” Three-yearold Walter Eades had cut his arm badly when he caught it in a wire fence. The Adult Class of the Methodist Church was planning a minstrel show with Mrs. Russell Bouchey and Mrs. Russell Dickman directing, and Chuck Hageman acting as interlocutor.

* On sale at Slansky IGA were two pounds of bananas for 25(D, homemade sausage for 49(D a pound, three cans of Del Monte chunk tuna for 99C, three cans of Libby’s peaches for 99(D and a pound box of Carol crackers for 19(D.

* Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Hindman had returned from a trip where they spent a week in Kansas and three weeks in Miami Beach. Florida. Besides the usual Florida vacation, the time spent there proved unusually interesting and exciting as President and Mrs. Lyndon Johnson and daughters were at the same hotel. Duffle reported the excitement connected with the presidential visit was really something to experience.

* Showing at the Nova Theatre were the movies “Drums of Africa” starring Frankie Avalon and Mariette Hartley, and “Palm Springs Weekend” starring Troy Donahue, Jerry Van Dyke and Connie Stevens.
