The new oil valuation for Rooks County showed an increase of $6,871,405.00. The 2011 valuation stood at $54,821.929.00, an increase of 12.5% from the 2010 figure of $47,950.524.00.
Shirley May’s Deli and Catering had been featured in the Sunday edition of The Hays Daily News’ Nor/wester. Owners were Cheryl and Rusty Hrabe, and the business was named after Cheryl’s mother.
Ashley Bedient began her duties as the Stockton Recreation Director after serving as co-director with Mark Wildeman since September 2008.
The 2011-2012 SHS football team attended a three-day Fort Hays State University camp. Participating were Wes Moore, Andrew Bellerive, Colton Hull, Casey Deutscher, Tyler Williams, Jaden Williams, Kale Kulhmann, Marlin Pulec, Ryan Allen, Christian Hamel, Koby Beougher, Cody Hrabe, Justin Wiltfong, Connor Winters, Zach Lowry, and Taten Pulec with coaches Justin Basart and Clint Bedore.
The Tiger basketball team competed in the MAYB Tournament in Maize, taking second place to the Redskins of Little River. Team members were Tyler Williams, Jaden Williams, Andrew Bellerive, Justin Wiltfong, Ethan Hamel, Cayden Conyac, Peter Sabell, Casey Deutscher, Michael Moll, and Christian Hamel, with coaches Adam North and Scott Hamel.
Edna Stice was the June Solomon Valley Manor Neighbor of the Month.
The construction of the school’s bus barn was complete. The rock had been hauled in and spread along the floor of the building for the housing of the school’s recently purchased charter bus and other vehicles.

Ago (1997)—The Stockton PRIDE steering committee was assessing public interest in bringing a movie theatre back to Stockton. The University of Kansas School of Education honored more than 900 Kansas teachers for long-term service, including four Stockton teachers: Ivalee Bennett, Sharon Petijohn, Patricia Nichols, and Joe Weidenhaft.
56 Years Ago, Spotlighting The Year 1955— Mont Low had started at his new janitor job in the grade school. He had formerly worked in the high school.M.D.Drummond, DDS, had announced that he had sold his dentistry practice to Dr. Pryce Hurley of Leonardville.
What Stocktonites Were Doing 98 Years Ago in 1913—Mr. and Mrs. E. Bartholomew left for a six-week swing around the eastern circle to visit friends and college botanical specimens. A.S. Casad and D. Kern in Iowa Township are said to have the best wheat the whole country round about, and it is estimated some of it will go to 30 bushels to the acre. W. C. Reed received three cars of steers from Kansas City on Saturday.
