The SHS prom king and queen candidates were Austin Smith, Katie Baughman, Brooke Waller, QingLing Li, Jacob Fielder, and Austin Wieden.

Receiving I Ratings at the Regional Solo and Small Ensemble Contest at Fort Hays State University were MaryLynn Griebel on alto sax and vocalists Billie Chesney and Christie Cox.

The Dynamite Trio 3 on 3 basketball team of Aubree Dewey, Shae Griffin, and Tatum Hamilton placed first out of seven teams in the third-grade girls division at Phillipsburg and first in their division at Thunder Ridge out of six teams.

The Pinewood Derby Pack Champion win- were Aaron Hahn in first place, Landon Riffel in second place, and Wes Higdon in third place.

Pinewood Derby winners in the Corporate Division were Stockton Sentinel run by Thomas Kester in first place, Stockton Lions Club run by Garry Wayne Moore in second place, and Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home run by Leighton Coburn in third place.

Looking Back 14 Years Ago (1997)—The resignations of Rob Ukleya as a high school counselor and Ivalee Bennett as a first-grade teacher were accepted at the school board meeting. A kickoff event for Stockton’s 125th year of existence was planned for April 20th at the Stockton City Hall. Students inducted into the SHS National Honor Society were Heather Jackson, Sara Romey, Tara Cikanek, Tisha Kibbee, Shannon Lowry, Kit McShea, Whitney Muir, Jennifer Poore, and Uriah Price.

56 Years Ago, Spotlighting The Year 1955— Kenneth Cooper sold his barbershop to Orville Livingston. The Coopers and their son, Jeral, purchased Dr. Mary’s farm six miles north of Phillipsburg. The entire time Jeral was serving in the Army, he dreamed of living on a farm. Harley and Roy Hamit, who owned and operated H & H Market, had finished their close-out sale of groceries so they could close their doors for business in Stockton and relocate the store to Bogue, which did not have a grocery store in that town.

What Stocktonites Were Doing 98 Years Ago in 1913—There was a black cloud in Webster last week, but no one but Bill Cline and Lawn Randall were alarmed. The Adams Hardware Company sold and erected Monitor windmills last week to O. E. Riffel and Tobias Lowrey. Jet Boylan got the two middle fingers on his right hand smashed while assisting W. H. Sage in unloading a heavy monument for the Allen lot. While badly smashed, the digits did not have to be amputated.

“Red Riding Hood” was showing at the Nova Theatre.

Doug and Mary Conn announced the arrival of their granddaughter, Roriayn Grace Gonzales, born on November 30th, 2010, to parents Kenneth and Erin Gonzales of Knoxville, Tenn. Marjorie Conn was the maternal great-grandmother.

Lowell Emrick Snyder (1932), Linda A. Comeau (1949), Marjorie Mae Bartholomew (1922), Everett A. Lowry (1949), William “Bill” Denio (1958), and Barbara J. Rogers (1931) passed away.

A surprise birthday celebration was held for two lovely ladies, Margerete Lowe and Bettie Bobbitt at the Carousel Bakery & Café. At the event were Gail Dix, Gerri Wehrli, Frances Stocking, Gladys Northup, Ruby Jackson, Violet Riffe, Ann Currie, Carol Smith, Twila Sander, Edith Hamilton, and John Russ.
