Marc Muller, a Swiss engineer traveling around the world in a unique solar- and wind-powered car, was in Stockton, drawing a lot of attention on Main Street.

The Rooks County Commission signed the air space resolution, which provided for regulation and restriction of the height of any objects in the vicinity of the new airport by creating zones and boundaries.

Senator Bob Dole had given a generous donation to the Stockton Medical Clinic Capital Campaign.

The Nova Theatre had presented Frank Sinatra impersonator Les Lankhorst LIVE! Keith Lee Hackerott (1942), Lauren L. Lemon (1919), Katherine J. Young, (1930), Lavern Holle (1930), and M. Eugene Mason (1946) passed away.

Looking Back 14 Years Ago (1996)—Zelma and Lloyd Rader of Kirwin donated around 2,500 members of the doll collection to the Rooks County Historical Museum. It took six panel trucks and four cars to transport the dolls of every size and shape to the museum. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Becker of Plainville celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary with an Open House. The 1996 SHS Homecoming King and Queen were Aron McReynolds and Januari Dix.

56 Years Ago, Spotlighting The Year 1954—J. C. Penney’s was featuring a Dollar Day Sale. Cotton loop shag rugs were two for $5.00, three yards of flannel prints were priced at $1.00, and men’s white cotton hankies were ten for $1.00. There was dam talk at the Rotary meeting. Since the contract work at Webster Dam began in March, the crews were working two nine-hour shifts employing about 100 men.

What Stocktonites Were Doing 98 Years Ago In 1912—Chairman Higgins of the Library Board is finishing up the cement approaches to the building and is doing the work himself without pay. Through T. R. May, the Chicago Lumber Company donated ten sacks of cement, and Mrs. Alexander gave $2.00 in cash. It will be a great improvement to the premises. J. A. Maris and P. H. Cooper have donated showcases to display Chip Baron’s curios. Two modern drinking fountains have been installed at the high school, one in the hall on the first floor and the other in front of the building. J. A. Maris donated the one in the hall; the other was used at the Chautauqua grounds. The water is much better.

Birth Announcements: Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Thayer announced the arrival of their son, Vincent Russell Thayer, born on July 2nd. Adam and Ashley Biedent had announced the arrival of their son, Huntlei Noel, born on September 5th.

Dan Van Schuyver, the President of Solomon Valley Arc, had presented Jerry and Patti Sterling of 183 Lanes with an appreciation plaque for supporting the organization for many years with the Larks bowling team.
