It was a beautiful night for football and fans were excited to be back in the stands at Tiger Stadium last Friday night for the 2022 football season opener against Logan/ Palco. The Stockton Tigers played hard and held their opponents in check throughout the first quarter, trailing just 6-0 at its end, following a late touchdown run by Rhett Kats.

Logan/Palco scored its second TD of the game at the 11:54 mark of the second period when Austin Stohs crossed the goal line, scoring the first of his six touchdowns on the night, to put the visitors on top 12-0. A turnover by the Tigers on the ensuing possession led to another Logan/Palco touchdown by Kats with Stohs tacking on the extra points, to their team a 20-0 advantage with 9:29 to go in the first half.

Stockton went threeand- out on the next series with Zach Young getting off a nice punt, but Cameron Morgan returned it all the way back for a touch- down to push Logan/Palco’s lead to 26-0.

A miscue by the Tigers allowed Logan/Palco to add another TD by Stohs with 3:08 left in the second, and just before halftime Stohs scored again giving the visitors a 38-0 lead at the intermission.

Stockton put the first points on the scoreboard in the second half when runs by Young and Emerson Lowry helped set up a TD run by Young for six points. He also added the two extra points making the score 38-8, with 7:26 left in the third.

The excitement of the touchdown was shortlived, however, as Stohs ran the kickoff back for a touchdown and added the extra points to put Logan/ Palco on top 46-8.

Continuing to fight, the Tigers would cut the margin to 46-14 when Lowry ran a quarterback keeper for a TD with 4:46 to go in the third. Lowry was filling in for starting QB Max Moffet who was suffering from leg cramps.

Before the end of the third quarter, Stohs was able to find the end zone two more times with his final touchdown and extra points at the 1:26 mark bringing an end to the game due to the Mercy Rule.

This week the Tigers will be at home again, hosting the Osborne Bulldogs. Kickoff at Tiger Stadium is set for 7:00 p.m.
