Yes, we need to stroll back in time and remember those One Hit Wonders that made the 1960s so cool! You might not remember the people who first sang them, but you will always remember the songs they left behind! Here you go….

“Teen Angel” by Mark Dinning,

“Sugar Sugar” by The Archies,

“The Lion Sleeps Tonight” by The Tokens,

“Eve of Destruction” by Barry McGuire,

“Green Tambourine” by the Lemon Pipers,

“Winchester Cathedral” by The New Vaudeville Band,

“In The Year 2525” by Zager and Evens,

“MacArthur Park” by Richard Harris,

“Summertime Blues” by Blue Cheer,

“Dominique” by The Singing Nun (One of mom’s favorites. Who has seen the movie starring Debbie Reynolds?),

“Wipe Out” by The Surfaris (A classic),

“The Ballad of the Green Berets” by Staff Sergeant Barry Sadler,

“Harper Valley P.T.A.” by Jeannie C. Riley,

“I Will Follow Him” by Peggy March,

“Spirit in the Sky” by Norman Greenbaum,

“Earth Angel” by Johnny Tillotson,

“This Magic Moment” by The Drifters,

“Stand by Me” by Ben E. King,

“Big Bad John” by Jimmy Dean (He didn’t just make sausage),

“The Wanderer” by Dion Dimucci,

“The Loco Motion” by Little Eva,

“Ramblin’ Rose” by Nat King Cole,

“Breaking Up Is Hard To Do” by Neil Sedaka,

“He’s a Rebel” by The Crystals,

and “Do You Love Me?” by Brian Poole.

And though it is not a one hit wonder for this guy, one of my ‘60s favorites is “In The Ghetto” by Elvis.

FYI: These fabulous songs have been recorded over and over again throughout the years, so I did my best to hunt down the original singers. Enjoy the music!
