This ‘n That
* It’s been a musical Bee Gees summer, with a little Andy Gibb thrown in.
* I like this saying: “You don’t stop dancing because you grow old. You grow old because you stop dancing.”
* The Tiger Sharks had an AWESOME season, and I know I am not alone in saying swim coach Daphne Plumer and her assistants Claire Plumer and Tierra Yohon did a phenomenal job with those kiddos. Since it began, the program has grown in leaps and bounds, or should I say strokes and flutter kicks.
* I think your computer should do this instead of continually saying “password incorrect”—it should say, “getting hotter” or “getting colder.”
* Who had the VHS tape “Sweating to the Oldies?” Rest in Peace, Richard Simmons.
* Does anyone still have a wood carving from chainsaw artist Jim Clark, who was at the Rooks County Free Fair in 2002?
* Who were some of your favorite entertainers who performed at the Rooks County Free Fair? Some of mine were Montgomery Gentry, Blackhawk, The Wilkersons, and Ronnie Milsap. And I loved the Swenson Thrillcade back in the 1960s!
* Today’s kids wouldn’t believe us if we told them we used to be able to order ten CDs for a penny in the mail! Of course, they probably don’t know what a CD is or even what a penny is.
* It is getting closer to football season and sweater/ hoodie weather!
* In his speech on Wednesday, July 24th, when he said he was dropping out of the presidential race, Biden stated, “I made it clear that I believe America is at an inflection point, one of those rare moments in history, where the decisions we make now determine the fate of our nation and the world for decades to come. America is going to have to choose between moving forward or backward. Between hope and hate. Between unity and division. We have to decide, do we still believe in honesty and decency, respect, freedom, and democracy.” I don’t know who wrote that for him, but I am taking it to heart and voting for Trump again.
