This And That

* I started my spring cleaning a little earlier this year, but have not made much progress. I cleaned out my closet and only got rid of one shirt.

* I say next Super Bowl they show a montage of all the Budweiser Clydesdale commercials throughout the years. Not a fan of this year’s halftime show. * Who remembers making Kleenex tissue flowers?

* This country is getting to the inflation tipping point that I think our town should build a few community gardens and raise a bunch of chickens for meat and eggs.

* Some of my family went to see the Harlem Globetrotters recently. I said I bet it was phenomenal to watch the athletes, but I claim the bragging rights of watching the legendary Meadowlark Lemon and Fred “Curly” Neal play the game.

* Who needs to hold a fun and old-fashioned fundraiser? Remember when the ladies would make yummy box lunches/dinners of fried chicken or thick turkey sandwiches with chocolate desserts or pies and decorate the baskets, boxes, etc. they packed them in so the men could bid on the baskets for the chance to eat lunch with their favorite lady? How fun is that? Let’s do this! Or have an organization make decorated boxes of homemade Christmas candy, Valentine’s Day treats, Easter jellybeans, etc. for a fun auction.

* Also, what organization wants to hold a New Year’s Eve celebration this year? Get a band, everybody bring potluck, make it for young and old alike and celebrate our community.

* And I’m not stopping there, let’s decorate our city park with hundreds of white and blue, and all sizes of snowflake lights along with icicle lights dripping from the trees to make our town a Christmas light destination during the holiday season. Every other town has a Candy Cane/ Holly Lane or Grinch theme area, so let’s do something original! We could set up a hot cocoa stand that organizations could take turns manning during the weekends from Thanksgiving through Christmas and sell some yummy Christmas delights!
