This and That
* Don’t go to the paint store to get thinner, it does not work.
* It’s the little things that count! A former McDonald’s worker has admitted to putting an extra chicken nugget in the boxes for years! Way to go! * Unleaded gas was $2.94 at the end of July.
* Just watched “Paper Moon,” a film starring Ryan O’Neal and his daughter Tatum. The 1973 black and white movie was filmed in and around the Gorham area and surrounding communities. It was fun looking for familiar landmarks in the background. And yes, I remember when the studio was filming around the area.
* Nod your head if you have ever done this….turned on the wrong burner on the stove and cooked absolutely nothing for 20 minutes.
* The tooth fairy has been visiting my grandkids a lot over the past few months. Just when you think they can’t get any cuter, they smile and those toothless grins are just adorable!
* I was given a lovely candle as a present that has the following saying on it, “Life is too short to be vanilla.” Now, I love the smell of a vanilla candle, love vanilla ice cream and love eating “white” wedding cake with lots of frosting, but sometimes you have to shake it up a bit to make life more interesting. So throw in a few multi-colored sprinkles, chocolate chips or whatever flavor you love!
* Dairy Queen’s Pumpkin Pie Blizzard will be available in September!
* Dennis Thomas (D. T.), co-founder of the music group, Kool & and the Gang, recently passed away. This iconic band had a unique blend of jazz, soul and funk with my favorite song being, “Celebration!” Listen to the song online and see if you don’t agree with me that this song is a party from beginning to end! And FYI: When the Tiger boys basketball team took State in 1981, one of the Stockton signs at the competition read: “Celebrate with Jim & the Gang!”
* Peyton Manning has been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. All is right with the world.
* It’s another week closer to that cool, fall weather that I love so much! Hoodies, sweatshirts, football games, falling leaves, Halloween candy! It just doesn’t get much better than that, though I am not going to lie because I am already missing laying by the swimming pool and soaking up all that sun!
