Dear Editor,

For many reasons, motorcycle racers would hate to lose the historic Stockton 1/2-mile race track.

Since 1909, Stockton has been a mecca for motorcycle racers from all over the USA and Canada.

After talking to Russ Briggs at the KMSA reunion gathering in Manhattan last weekend, we feel that it is possible to please everyone.

Instead of shortening the north end to cut in a 3/8’s track, leave the 1/2 mile in place and cut in a 3/8's track inside of the 1/2 mile on the north end. Fill in the catch pond with dirt from a new catch pond. A small amount of dirt work might be required to switch between the two tracks, but it should not be much.

This setup might lend itself to two different motorcycle races every summer.

It's something to think about.
