Wilma M. (Holcombe) Welch, age 65, of Stockton, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 in Hays, Kansas.

She was born on May 19, 1954 at St. Joseph Hospital in Wichita, Kansas to Doyle and Neva (McCormick) Holcombe. She grew up in the Sedgwick and Rooks County areas. She met and married Charles Welch on October 3, 1998 at the Methodist Church in Woodston. After their marriage they moved to Winkleman, Arizona until her husband’s retirement from the copper mines in 2003. They returned to Rooks County where they resided in Woodston and later relocated to Stockton, and finally, Plainville.

Wilma enjoyed ancestry and spent a lot of time on genealogy. She was very artistic, earning awards with her talents creating ceramics. Wilma was an animal lover, and she cherished her beloved dogs and her family. Her caring nature and kindness will be remembered by those who knew her. She will be greatly missed.

Wilma is survived by her husband Charles of Plainville; a brother, Garold Holcombe and wife Judy of Maud, OK; a niece, Melissa Weidow and husband John of Geronimo, OK; a nephew, John Holcombe and wife Dr. Brianne of Ft. Bragg, NC; great-nephews, John Garold Weidow, Trenton and Rhylan Holcombe; as well as cousins in the surrounding Rooks County area.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Doyle and Neva Holcombe; and siblings David Leon and Carol Jean Holcombe.

A graveside service was held Saturday, February 29, 2020, at the Stockton City Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.
