Another tragedy has taken the life of a young Stockton man as a result of a vehicle accident and shocked this community once again. It was three months to the day after the last accident took a young man’s life.
Richard Schleicher, age 24, of Stockton, Kan., who was scheduled to compete at the Pendleton Round-Up, died in a crash Thursday, September 16, in eastern Oregon while on his way to the bull riding event. Two other bull riders who were also contestants at the same event, were seriously injured, according to Oregon State Police.
Webster Reservoir remains in a “Watch” Advisory for blue-green algae according to the latest release received Thursday, September 16th, by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) and the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP).
With the continuation of warm/hot weather, there’s even more time to enjoy those days at the lake.
A watch means that blue-green algae have been detected and a harmful algal bloom is present or likely to develop. People are encouraged to avoid areas of algae accumulation and keep pets and livestock away from the water.
Carolyn Ann Wilkerson, Plainville, passed away on September 13, 2021, at the Rooks County Health Center in Plainville, at the age of 73.
She was born on May 23, 1948, to Victor and Henneritta (Befort) Younger in Hays. She was married to Gary Wilkerson on February 27, 1971, in Ellis Co. They were blessed with two sons: Eric and Wesley.
