Jerry Lee Ledbetter, 78, passed away on August 30, 2025, at the Rooks County Health Center in Plainville. Jerry was a resident at Redbud Village in Plainville. 

He was born on November 21, 1946, to James and C. Ruby (Bullock) Denniston in Hays. He married Phyllis Reeder on December 22, 1971. They were blessed with three children: Dan, Trina, and Amy.

Jerry grew up in Codell and graduated from Codell High School with the Class of 1965. He went on to attend Goodland Vo-Tech, where he studied auto body mechanics. Jerry proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. After his service, he worked as a carpenter for Schult Mobile Homes, spending much of his life working with his hands. He especially enjoyed woodworking, watching Westerns and science fiction, and going to country-western dances. Above all, he cherished time spent with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Dan (Sheila) Ledbetter of Russell, Trina (Lester) Ledbetter of Alton, and Amy (Jason) Jackson of Stockton; brothers, Bill (Shirley) Ledbetter of Seguin, Wash., and Clint (Carol) Ledbetter of Edmond, Okla.; three grandchildren: Sierra, Kaylee and Jade Jackson; and step-grandchild, Cassie Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Ledbetter and Ruby Denniston; stepfather, Percy Denniston; and his wife, Phyllis.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Plainville, with burial to follow at Plainville City Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Plainville.
