Tigers do well at Christmas City Wrestling Classic

The Stockton High School wrestlers were on the road to WaKeeney last Saturday for the Christmas City Wrestling Classic hosted by Trego Community High School.

Ashlyn Hahn, who is ranked in the state, dominated her opponents as she wrestled her way to a first-place finish at 120 lbs. Also placing first for the Tiger girls were Carolina Northup (100) who received two byes, and Rivver Long (190), who got two falls en route to her first-place finish.

Ryan Mongeau (285) was the top placer for the Tiger boys, finishing second. Emerson Lowry was fourth and Cameron Balthazor placed fifth.

As a team, the Stockton girls finished 10th out of the 19 teams competing, garnering a total of 46 points. Trego won the Classic with 92 points, with Cimarron (74) and Norton (74), Goodland (65) and St. Francis (64) rounding out the top five.

Winning the Classic on the boys’ side was Smith Center with 149 points. They were followed by Hill City (144), Phillipsburg (99), Halstead (84) and Larned (83). Stockton placed 12th out of the 15 teams, scoring 26 points.

This Friday the Tiger boys will travel to Ellis, with action beginning at 2:00 p.m., while the Stockton girls will be on the road to Great Bend with action starting at 3:00 p.m.
