School Board approves supplemental contracts and resignation at special meeting
A special USD 271 School Board meeting was held on Monday, June 27 with the board members first recognizing superintendent Bill Lowry with a plaque for his years of service to the District.
Then the Board reviewed the year-end budget as presented by Lowry, approving it and allowing the superintendent and clerk to move forward with year-end purchases and transfers as allowed by law.
Next Lowry went over the District’s Five-Year Accreditation. The accreditation improved from 37% to 58% and Stockton has been recommended for full accreditation to the state.
After reviewing the carpet proposal by Carpet One as presented, the board members voted to proceed with the installation of flooring in the grade school offices and two of the classrooms this summer. It was noted that no local businesses had sent in a proposal.
Lowry provided the Board with the information gathered to date for the facilities report on what the District needs to update and repair in the coming years, which will include both exterior and interior work. The Board will start to line up the projects accordingly.
Lowry then went over the transportation report showing the board members the lineup of vehicles the District has at the present time, and also going over the proposed bus routes for the coming school year.
After three executive sessions were held with the board members and Lowry in attendance, they came back to the open meeting and approved the resignation of Marcia Hrabe as co-athletic director. They then approved Don Moffet as the head high school football coach, Spencer Hilbrink as the head junior high football coach, and Heath Muir as the assistant junior high football coach. Kyle Hull was contracted as Stockton’s new business teacher for the 2022- 2023 school year and will also serve as the co-athletic director.
Before the meeting was adjourned, the board members approved a 3% increase for all classified positions as well as for the administrators.
Present for the meeting were board members Stephanie Niblock, Jesse Stithem, LeAnn Dix, BJ Hoeting, Chad Sterling and Mark Billinger as well as superintendent Bill Lowry, high school principal Lindsay Cravens and grade school principal Stacey Green.
