On February 6, 2022, shortly after 2:00 a.m., Dawson Workman, age 22, of Plainville, was driving south on 16 Terrace, approximately 300 feet south of the X Road intersection where he struck a guardrail on the right side of the road. He continued driving south on 16 Terrace, turning east onto Y Road where he ended up in the north ditch. Workman’s vehicle, a 2010 Toyota Tundra 4-door pickup, was damaged extensively and had to be towed away. No injuries were reported. Workman was not wearing a seatbelt, and alcohol was a contributing factor in the accident.

On February 17, 2022, at approximately 9:25 a.m., Thomas Kester, Stockton, was northbound on 16 Terrace, about one-half mile from K Terrace, when he went off the road and struck a tree. Kester, who was not wearing a seatbelt, said he didn’t remember anything but did state he hadn’t slept in three days. He was transported by ambulance to Rooks County Health Center. He was driving a 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix that was disabled and had to be towed from the scene.

On Feb. 18 at 7:20 a.m., Daniel Colbert, age 31, of Naples, Fla., was traveling west on U.S. Highway 24 near 16 Rd. when he struck a deer. The U.S. Government-owned 2016 Ford Explorer he was driving was damaged on the front and passenger side but was driveable. Colbert was wearing his safety restraint, and no injuries were reported.

On March 6, at 7:50 a.m., Donald Shields, 73, of Stockton, was driving east on N. 2nd St., when he struck the rear end of a vehicle owned by Tony Miller, which was unoccupied and parked against the curb on the south side of the street. Shields stated that when he turned the corner he was blinded by the sun. His vehicle, a 2007 Dodge Nitro, was damaged on the front, the hood and the right front corner. Miller’s vehicle, a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado, had damage on the driver’s side rear corner. Shields was wearing his seatbelt, and no injuries were reported.
