Annual Meeting of Rooks County Conservation District Mon., Feb. 7th

The Rooks County Conservation District’s 74th Annual Meeting will take place on Monday, February 7th, at 6:30 p.m. at the Plainville Grade School Cafeteria. Activities for the evening will include guest speaker Dean Krehbiel, State Resource Conservationist, who will be speaking on “Woody Encroachment.” Featuring a speaker is something new added this year. Also included will be the presentation of the 2021 Bankers Soil Conservation Award by board member Randy Odle and Key banker, Chase Look, of Solutions North Bank of Stockton and the Windbreak Award presented by JD Riffel and Key Banker, Chase Look.

Recipients of the 2021 Bankers Soil Conservation award are Pat Hageman and Karen McMullen Hageman.

Landowners chosen to receive the awards are selected by using the following criteria: using the land in accordance with its needs and capability; completion of conservation plan; 4 balance of farm operation; and quality of conservation work completed and maintained.

Also taking place at the meeting will be the election of one District Supervisor to replace the expiring term of Cade Beesley, and presided over by board member Randy Odle.

Children will be recognized who have been chosen as first-, second-, third-, or fourth-place winners in the poster and limerick contests sponsored by the Rooks County Conservation District. Rooks County grade school children in kindergarten through eighth grades submitted posters and limericks. This year, the district received 200

This year, the district received 200 posters from Stockton, Plainville, Sacred Heart, Palco, and Damar Elementary School. An educational presentation is given in the schools to kick off the contest. The theme for 2020 was “Healthy Forests = Healthy Communities.”

Supper will be served prior to the meeting by The Daily Grind, courtesy of Solutions North Bank, Stockton, First State Bank of Plainville, Farmers National Bank of Stockton and Astra Bank of Plainville.

Door prizes will also the awarded this year but all winners must be present to win.

So come out and support the Rooks County Conservation District and everything they do for so many throughout the year.
