It’s Summer Time!
As the days grow longer and the sun shines brighter, summer is calling us to embrace what this season has to offer. It’s that magical time of year filled with laughter and adventure, from swimming and barbecues to softball games at Kincaid Field, these summer months are sure to be filled with making memories with family and friends.
Swimming is a must in my family, and the tradition carries on with swim team for my grandkids! Something I look forward to every year! And of course I love going to the pool whenever I can, or enjoy an afternoon hanging out in my sister’s backyard pool, listening to our favorite music blasting away.
And are you guys ready for the official barbecue season? What I love most is that I don’t have to grill! I head on over to my daughter’s house and all the food preparation and grilling is done by them! My contributions to the meals are me and a side dish. My specialties are sugar cookies, watermelon, ice cream or whatever the grandkids ask me to bring over!
We also have softball games to attend and cheering on my sweet kiddos and every kid who steps up to the plate. The sense of accomplishment they get when they hit a home run, or even connect with the ball and make it to first base is to be celebrated! And how about those high fly balls and catches in the outfield or getting someone out on third base? It’s a fun time for all, and I look forward to the evening games. It’s also a time to catch up with friends while the game unfolds before us.
So as we dive into summer, take a moment to appreciate these special times. Whether that is splashing in the pool, having a barbecue on the Fourth of July, hanging out down at the ballfields, or out boating, camping, and fishing at Webster, plan to spend time with family and friends and enjoy each day. Here’s to a summer filled with sunshine and adventures!
And just so you know, some of the best summer memories are made while wearing flip flops!
