Here are a few sweet and salty items to add to your Thanksgiving snack table this year to help spice it up!

Besides the traditional roasted turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, corn bread and apple or pumpkin pie with three or four or five dollops (okay the entire container!) of whipped cream, check out these yummy tidbits….

Bugles—Symbolizing the cornucopia—the horn of plenty. (Salty, crunchy and just plain good to eat!)

Pretzels—Symbolizing arms crossed and folded in thanks and prayer. (Also salty, crunchy and a great snack throughout the day because you can never have enough to eat on Thanksgiving!)

Candy Corn—Symbolizing the sacrifices of the first winter’s harvest. (Also, there is A LOT of this candy left over from Halloween!)

Goldfish—Symbolizing the blessing of the abundant sea life provided for the early settlers. (And who doesn’t love the shape of these little crackers?)

Dried Fruit—Symbolizing the bountiful fruits of the earth that are gathered at harvest time. (Not a big fan, but they look good on a cheese platter.)

Nuts—Symbolizing the promise of a future harvest if seeds are planted and tended with care. (The list of yummy nuts I like goes on and on and on, and starts with peanuts! Preferably in Snickers!)

M&Ms—Symbolizing the memories of those who came before us to guide us to a blessed future. (Love you Mom and Dad.) (And my favorite M&Ms are peanut, if you haven’t already guessed!)

Hershey Kisses—Symbolizing the love of family and friends that sweeten our lives. (The list is too long to list them all in my editorial, but I will start with my sweet Sadie, Chase, my pretty Tessa and Superman Trent.)

Wishing everyone a Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving.
