There will be two great learning opportunities available to area businesses the fourth week of March in Rooks County. The workshops have been put together by Rooks County Economic Development and Rooks County E-Community to help business people work not only “in” their business, but also “on” their business.

The first Lunch & Learn workshop is being presented by the Small Business Administration on Monday, March 23, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Rooks County Health’s Education Center in Plainville. The Education Center is located at 409 N. Washington, just northwest of the K-18 and U.S. 183 intersection.

The topic for the session will be “Marketing and Customer Engagement Strategies:’ Michael Aumick, Economic Development Specialist with the SBA will be the presenter. Lunch will be served and is free. Registration is requested in advance. Email Roger Hrabe at roger@rookscounty.net for the online link.

The second opportunity is two days later on March 25 and will be held in Stockton at City Hall from 8:00-9:30 a.m. This 90 minute workshop topic is, “Increase Sales & Profits as a Destination Businessf Jon Schallert, Destination Business Specialist with the Schallert Group from Longmont, Colorado is the presenter and literally travels around North America helping businesses become destinations.

“We are so excited to have Jon here for these 90 minutes;’ said Economic Dev. Director Roger Hrabe. “Every business should send someone to this. He will teach you how to make your business a place that will attract not only locals, but it will attract people from a broad area. And in today’s environment, that can be the difference between a business succeeding or failingf

Schallert is coming to Rooks County as a result of Rooks County E-Community sponsoring six Rooks County businesses’ attendance at Destination Bootcamp in Longmont this last fall. “I guarantee you won’t regret your attendance at this workshop;’ Hrabe added.

There is no cost for this workshop, but be prepared to engage with Jon on what makes your business somewhere he would want to go. Registration is also required.
