Cathey Ellen Critchfield

Cathey Ellen Critchfield, 77, of Plainville, passed away peacefully at Redbud Nursing Home on Sunday, May 4, 2025. 

She was born January 10, 1948, in Denver, Colorado, to Jack and Florence Davidson. 

She attended North High School in Denver before graduating from Arapahoe High School in Littleton, Colo., in 1966. She later graduated as valedictorian from Orchid Beauty Academy School of Cosmetology in Denver in 1967. 

Cathey went on to own her own beauty shops throughout the years in Canton, Palco, and Morland. Any spare time she had was often spent in her garden. 

On April 13, 1973, Cathey married Darrell Crichfield in Denver.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell; her parents, Jack and Florence Davidson; son Dennis Critchfield; grandson Josh Critchfield; and great-granddaughter Kayla Soderberg. 

She is survived by her sons: Doug Critchfield and Dan Critchfield, both of Grand Junction, Colo., Don Critchfield of Mesa, Ariz., and Lane Victorson of Baltimore, Md.; her daughter Lana (Don) Barton of Morland; and 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. 

A visitation was held Tuesday, May 6, 2025, from  3 to 7 p.m., with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Her funeral will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at the First Assembly of God Church, Hill City, with burial in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
