On The Road Again!
This summer, my sweet niece and goddaughter, Jenny, took her family of five on a road trip from California throughout the Midwest, and back again. The more than month-long trip was quite the adventure for them and it was planned out to a T!
They headed south from San Jose during the last week of June, and stayed in the home of friends as well as different hotels and resorts each night, even spending a few days in Texas before stopping in Wichita for a long visit with her husband’s family. Then it was on to Arkansas where more family is located. Next was a long stop in Kansas City to visit her family. Every day there was filled with some type of family activity with lots of time spent with her sisters, brother, dad and plenty of cousins. Her husband even got to fly in during a few of the weekends to join in on some of the fun!
Then came the highlight of the trip, I am sure, when they stopped at my house for an overnight visit. Tacos were requested and eaten, games were played, and lots of hugs and catching up was on the agenda before everyone settled in for the evening. After church the next morning, it was more visiting, kisses and hugs before they left for Cheyene, Wyo. Another stop along the way home was Salt Lake City, Utah with the end of the trip coming in just a day or two before the youngest, Simon’s, third birthday which was celebrated on August 6th.
And speaking of Simon, he’s the only boy in this family of pretty girls and this was the first time I ever got to hug him in person! He does love to sing in church! As for his older sisters, Norah took care of her siblings splendidly throughout the trip, and she and her Mama had everything down to a science when it came to packing, unpacking and their timetable. I did have to apologize because I do not have internet at home and that kind of threw their scheduling off a little bit! Laney is next in line and loves elephants and tigers, just like I do! She wants it known that she is my favorite, and is my GREAT, great-niece! Ruby is very inquisitive and we bonded over our blonde hair and love for horses. Little Maggie’s smile can light up a room and she also loves elephants and tigers, with purple being her favorite color ever!
Needless to say the trip was quite the adventure and my time with them was very precious! My Sadie, Tessa, Trent and Chase came over for supper with the kiddos bonding like kids do, so much so that they became instant friends! Imagine that?!
I cannot wait to see the book she will make of their journey! I love that they had such an awesome time, and that they included me in their travels.
