Still plenty to do and see at the Rooks County Free Fair!

The Rooks County Free Fair began Monday and there is plenty to see and do throughout the week!

There is another evening of motorcycle races in the grandstand scheduled for Tuesday, August 10th. The Feature races will begin at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices are $10.00 for Adults, $5.00 for Children ages 6 to 12 years of age, and FREE for Children 5 and Under. Then on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, August 11th and 12th, the Fair has stock car races which will take place on the historic half-mile track. The races begin at 7:00 p.m. Ticket prices on Wednesday are $10.00 for Adults, $5.00 for Children 6 to 12 years of age, and FREE for Children 5 and Under, with Thursday night prices being $20.00 for Adults, $10.00 for Children 6 to 12 years of age, and FREE for Children 5 and Under. On Friday night, August 13th, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. bring everyone to the FREE FAMILY NIGHT in the grandstand with Force 1 Laser Tag, a virtual reality roller coaster experience and a FREE inflatable carnival. And at 7:00 p.m. enjoy the slapstick circus show with performer Richard Renner. On Saturday night, August 14th, the grandstand attractions will end with a bang on Saturday night with the annual Demolition Derby. The action will begin at 6:30 p.m. Ticket prices are $10.00 for Adults, $5.00 for Children 6 to 12 years of age, and FREE for Children 5 and Under. The FREE inflatable carnival will be open to the public from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. (The grandstand gates will open at 5:00 p.m. for the motorcycle races, stock car races and demolition derby.)

The Free musical performances under the Solutions North Bank Pavilion are all lined up for the crowds with Tommy Watt to supply the tunes on Tuesday; Jimmy Dee & The Fabulous Destinations will take the stage on Wednesday evening; Cole Harris will appear on Thursday; and Kill Creek Rising will perform on Friday with Red Line Velocity set to end the Fair on a high note on Saturday evening.

Everyone can have a grand time checking out what’s on display in the 4-H and Open Class buildings, plus take in the livestock, flowers, wheat, vegetables, crafts, sewing, cooking, photography, art and much more throughout the week. And let’s not forget all the livestock entries! McCaslin Hall will be open daily from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. so come spend some time looking at what the vendors have for sale.

On Tuesday, the Tallest Corn Plant Contest will be held starting at 9:00 a.m. with the Sand Castle Contest to be held by the SNB Pavilion starting at 1:00 p.m. The Ag Science Lab will be held at 3:00 p.m. and the Purple Ribbon RC Racing is set for 7:00 p.m. On Wednesday, August 11th, Richard Renner will give three performances with his stilt walking and recycle cycle. Also, the Knights of Columbus Bingo will held under the SNB Pavilion between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. followed by the FREE Watermelon Feed at 4:00 p.m. On Thursday, August 12th, Richard Renner will again give three performances during the afternoon starting at 3:00 p.m. On Friday, August 13th, the Large Animal Round Robin will be held at the Sutor-Blauer Arena at 9:00 a.m., which will be followed by the Small Animal Round Robin. The Buyers Hospitality will start at 5:00 p.m. and the Livestock Sale at 6:00 p.m.

Enjoy the Fair and all it has to offer! The Fair Board and volunteers work hard all year long to fill this August week with as much fun as possible!
