* Read this quote after I wrote my Dog Days of Summer editorial…And God said, “I will send them without wings so no one suspects they are angels.”

* What is your favorite Disney coaster? I love Big Thunder Railroad and Seven Dwarfs Mine. And though it is technically not a roller coaster, I do love Splash Mountain as well.

* Never blame someone else for the road you are on. That’s your own asphalt.

* What song makes you turn up the volume or sing along every time you hear it? I have a long list, but if you asked my family, they would say mine is “Jesse’s Girl” by Rick Springfield. And they wouldn’t be wrong!

* When you are feeling bad, always remember, some of the best days of your life haven’t happened yet.

* Lots of my family members have been going on or getting ready to go on a vacation. Their destination spots are located somewhere in the state of Florida. My vacation was a weekend trip to McCook, Nebraska to watch my granddaughter and the Tiger Shark swim team compete in the Championships! Not a bad little vacay!

* My dad and our neighbor, Doc Dale Dean, had Purple Martins for years when we were growing up, and we loved keeping our eyes open for the first ones to fly in each spring! Great memories!

* Some people dumpster dive, I watermelon dive at Webster’s Supermarket every few days during the summer because I love watermelon! My personal preference is the oblong homegrown watermelons with plenty of black seeds you have to spit out!

* I think I have mentioned this before, but my favorite number is 45.

* Can you believe this is the last weekend of July?! Where did the summer go? Are you all ready for the Rooks County Free Fair?

* The Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement for the Class of 2021 will be held on Sunday, August 8th at the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio. I am still waiting for my personal invitation to attend the ceremony from Peyton.

* We are one month closer to October!!
