Thank you to the county for mowing our roadsides. It is much better to have the weeds cut down.

The musical program furnished by the 35th Infantry Division Army National Guard Band on Wednesday evening, July 14, at the Nova, was a really good show of talent. The members made it an entertaining program by enjoying performing.

Friday, July 16, I helped Terry Odle move his F20 Farmall tractor back to Rooks County plus an antique farm wagon and corn lister. We had lunch at the Salina Farmer and Ranchers Sale Barn and Terry introduced me to Mike Samples, the owner-manager.

Steven and I spent Saturday afternoon fixing pasture flood gaps and fence and Dan Melton surprised us by driving out from Walton to help with the fences. He spent the night, attended church with us, and headed home after dinner. He was here to enjoy our 1.1 inch rain Sunday morning.

Cedar Christian Church

Sunday, July 18, members of The Cedar Christian Church sang, “I’ll Put Jesus First In My Life” for the opening hymn. Darel Boston, Norton, read scripture from Acts 4: 1-14. The “Lord’s Prayer” was recited in unison. We were thankful for the nice rain. Kirby Mullen and Steven Melton served Communion and the hymn was, “There Is A Fountain.” Special music was, “My God and I.” Darel spoke about “Purpose.” Are people having a purpose in life to the end? Helping others each day can be the purpose in our christian walk. Each of us should have in us the spirit of God and the desire to spread the Gospel to others. The Closing hymn was, “I’ll Live For Him.”

Discussion was held on planning an ice cream social and inviting the community to the Cedar City Park on August 22, at 7:00 p.m. Darel announced that August 12-14 would be the dates for the Northwest Men’s Encounter at Lakeview Christian Camp located at Webster Lake, Stockton. This is a weekend opportunity to spend time and fellowship with Christian men discovering more about your walk with God. Register at website (nwksencounter.com)
