EQIP Conservation Program Sign-Up Deadline Nov. 30th
The Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) is a voluntary, competitive conservation program that provides financial and technical assistance to farmers and ranchers who face threats to soil, water, air, plants, and related natural resources on their land.
Through EQIP, if funded, the NRCS provides financial assistance to producers who promote agricultural production and environmental quality as compatible goals. EQIP applications are accepted on a continuous basis, however, NRCS establishes application “cut-off” or submission deadline dates for evaluation, ranking, and approval of eligible applications. This year the cut-off date for applications is Nov 30th.
By signing up an application, you are under no obligation. NRCS will evaluate your field for eligibility and develop a plan with you to treat eligible resource concerns. Through EQIP, agricultural producers receive financial and technical assistance to implement structural and management practices that optimize environment working benefits on working agricultural land.
These practices include but are not limited to: grassed waterways, terraces, critical area plantings, diversions, spring developments, pipelines, wells, tanks, pumping plants, brush management, prescribed grazing, cover crops, conversion to no-till, etc.
If you are interested in EQIP, schedule an appointment to speak with a NRCS representative at the Stockton Field Office at (785) 425-6302 ext. 3.
