* A big picture in a recent issue of the Kansas City Star showed a large crowd watching the floor show provided for those attending the Lumberman’s Convention held in Kansas City. Right on the front row was Mrs. M. N. Boethin. Milt was sitting in the row right behind her.

* Miss Donna Knight of Stockton had been named Co-ed Correspondent for the 1968-1969 school year, according to Miss Margaret Hauser. The CO-ED was published nationally by Scholastic Magazines, Inc. for home economics students.

* Diane Inman had been named the 1969 Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow for Alton High School based on her score in a written test on homemaking given to all senior girls in December, making her eligible for state and national scholarships.

* Rooks County had a new undersheriff after being without one since Clinton Smee resigned at the first of the year. The new officer was Richard Frank of Plainville.

* Mrs. Mike Heenan, the former Charlotte Ostmeyer, had received word from the War Department that her husband, Lieut. Mike Heenan had received severe head injuries when he ejected from a Phantom Jet, which was hit by enemy fire over Southeast Asia. When Heenan called his wife by radio telephone, she learned that he had been airlifted out of the fighting area immediately after his injury and was a patient in the USAF Hospital in Thailand.

* From The Feminine Slant By The Office Cat: Usually, the longest distance between two points is the shortcut.

* Looking Backward Fourteen Years Ago: Stockton FFA had won the Northwest District Poultry Contest for the second year in a row. Ten-year-old Verlyn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Verl Maddy, had undergone surgery at the Hadley Hospital. The H and H Market had two pounds of sliced bacon on sale for 98¢.

* Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Nichol of Stockton announced the engagement of their daughter, Barbara, to Jerry Vin Belcher.

* Mrs. Loren Grover announced the engagement and approaching marriage of her daughter, Barbara, to Steven R. Bootman.

* On sale at Webster’s Supermarket were center- cut steaks for 89¢ a pound, top boneless round steaks for 99¢ a pound, sliced bacon for 65¢ a pound, and Oscar Mayer pure pork link sausage for 79¢ a pound.

* Showing at the Nova Theatre was “Madigon,” starring Inger Stevens, Richard Widmark, Henry Fonda, and James Witmore.
