Annual Meeting of Rooks County Conservation District Mon., Jan. 27th

The Rooks County Conservation District’s 77th Annual Meeting will take place on Monday, January 27th, at 6:30 p.m. at the Plainville Grade School Caferia.

Activities for the evening will include the presentation of the 2024 Bankers Soil Conservation Award and the Windbreak Award.

The recipient of the 2024 Bankers Soil Conservation award is Gasper Farms of Stockton.

Landowners chosen to receive the awards are selected by using the following criteria: using the land in accordance with its needs and capability; completion of conservation plan; balance of farm operation; and quality of conservation work completed and maintained.

The Windbreak Award will be presented to Barbara Griffin and the late David Griffin of Natoma.

Also taking place at the meeting will be the election of one District Supervisor for the expiring term of Cade Beesley, presided over by Greggory Whisman, Chairman.

Students will be recognized who have been chosen as first-, second-, third-, or fourth-place winners in the poster and limerick contests sponsored by the Rooks County Conservation District. Rooks County grade school children in kindergarten through eighth grades submitted posters and limericks.

Schools in the county submitting posters and limericks include Stockton, Plainville, Sacred Heart, Palco, and Damar Elementary School. An educational presentation is given in the schools to kick off the contest. The poster theme for 2025 is, “Home Is Where The Habitat Is.” This theme was selected by the NACD (National Association of Conservation Districts).

Supper will be served prior to the meeting by The Daily Grind, courtesy of Solutions North Bank, Stockton, First State Bank of Plainville, Farmers National Bank of Stockton and Astra Bank of Plainville. Door prizes will also the awarded this year but all winners must be present to win. So come out and support the Rooks County Conservation District and everything they do for so many throughout the year. Everyone is invited to attend and there is no charge for a great night of fun.
