Vicki Ann (Richards) Cooper
1953 - 2020
Vicki Ann Richards was born March 25, 1953 in Quinter, Kansas to Howard and Marjorie (Hockman) Richards. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 28, 2020.
She graduated Hill City High School and married her high school sweetheart, Roy Cooper, on June 10, 1972. Vicki wore many hats over the years but none better, or more important to her than wife and mother.
She was a tremendous cook and loved cooking for her family. She loved athletics and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. Watching Kansas basketball was a favorite winter past-time and rarely missed a game. Her summers were spent in her yard and garden; but she lived to be at the softball fields on summer evenings. Vicki coached and played softball until she was 50 and was the best of pitchers.
Vicki was as dedicated to the Lord as she was to her family. She and Roy began their courtship attending the First Southern Baptist Church in Hill City. They raised three daughters on a hog farm north of Bogue. She loved her momma sows and had special names for each of them. The work on the farm was hard but she never complained and worked as hard as any man. She had the muscles and six-pack abs to prove it.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Marjorie; and and sister, Maureen Richards.
She is survived by her husband, Roy, of the home; her daughters Mandy (Brad) Williams of Stockton, Shanell Cooper of Hill City, Michelle Cooper of Shawnee; her sisters Connie Conley and Glenda Nickelson; and brother Lawrence Richards; and eight grandchildren: Jaden, Kylar and Breckyn Williams; Gabriell Cooper, Mason Rice and Aubrey Gillespie; and Logan and Grayci White.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 4, 2020, at 10:30 a.m., at the Hill City Park gazebo in Hill City.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Graham County Recreation Commission earmarked for the softball fields and may be sent in care of Stinemetz Funeral Home at 522 N. Pomeroy, Hill City, KS 67642.
