Tigers medal four at Trego’s Christmas City Wrestling Classic

The Stockton High School Wrestling Teams were in WaKeeney on Friday and Saturday competing in the Christmas City Wrestling Classic. The girls wrestled on Friday, and the boys, on Saturday.

En route to a first-place finish at 130, senior Ashlyn Hahn reached the 100 career wins milestone following her first win of the day, which was over Amya Parker of Scott Community. Three of Hahn’s four wins at the Classic came on falls, including her win over Kahlyn Davis of Halstead in the championship match.

Also finishing on top of the podium was junior Carolina Northup, who placed first at 100. Northup’s wins were all from falls, with one technical fall. She defeated Adrian Salcido of Colby int he first-place match.

Senior Rivver Long was the Tiger girls’ third medalist, placing second at 235. She went 1-1 on the day getting a fall on her win over A ’Tejia Thomas of Larned, but losing 4-0 to Emma Hahn of Ellinwood in the championship match.

On the boys’ side, Emerson Lowry, a 157lb. senior earned a thirdplace finish. Lowry won his first match with an 8-6 decision over Parker Hutchinson of Smith Center, but was defeated by Hill City’s Jaxon Smith in the second match, sending him to the backside. In the consolation semifinals he won by a fall over Waylon Ricker of Scott Community, and then won the third-place match with another decision (9-4) over Parker Hutchinson of Smith Center.

This Friday and Saturday, the Stockton girls will be on the road to Great Bend for a tournament, while the Tiger boys will travel to Ellis on Saturday for a tourney. Action in Great Bend begins at 11 a.m. on Friday, and at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Start time in Ellis is 1:00 p.m.
