    Body

Alice Rose Lytle, 90, of Stockton, Kansas, passed away on August 30, 2026, in Hays, Kansas.

She was born to Omar and Olive (Roberts) Roy on April 20, 1936. She grew up on the family farm outside of Damar, Kansas. Her mother died in childbirth when Alice was very young. Her father later married Vula Felderman, and she was the only mother Alice ever knew.

She attended grade school and high school in Damar. Following graduation, Alice began working at the Rooks County Bakery, where she met the love of her life, James Lytle. They were married in Damar.

She was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Stockton. The couple made their home (which was always immaculate) in Stockton and became the proud parents of three daughters: Rhonda, Becky, and Lori.

Alice absolutely loved playing cards, with Pitch and Kings on the Corner among her favorites. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved being the prankster whenever or wherever she felt it was necessary.

Alice was also very talented with her hands and loved sharing those talents with others. She was a fabulous seamstress, and probably half the little girls in the county had at least one dress made by Alice. She was also known for her angel food cakes, a specialty she often shared with friends. Alice also enjoyed embroidering tea towels. What started as a hobby soon became a little side business, especially through Phil Stinemetz, who purchased many sets and shared them with others.

As the years flew by, Alice was blessed with five grandchildren, whom she loved dearly and enjoyed spending time with.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Omar and Olive Roy; her stepmom, Vula Roy Gager; her husband, James Lytle; her brother, Joe Roy; and her brother-in-law Gene Lytle.

She is survived by her daughters: Rhonda (husband Kenneth) Brown of Zurich, Becky (husband Royce) Muir of Stockton, and Lori (husband Joey) Huls of Marysville; grandchildren: Jesica (husband Dan) Kerr, Erin Miller, Gabe (wife Jess) Miller, Cheyenne Watkins, Timmy Huls; brothers: Cecil (wife Patty) Roy of Damar and Jerry Roy of Stockton; sisters: Karen (husband Rob) of Stockton, Carol Thompson of Surprise, Arizona, Bonnie (husband Craig) Berland of Chandler, Arizona, and Teresa (husband Brent) Hawkins of Washington.

A visitation was held Friday, September 4, at Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home from 5-7, with a Vigil and Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, September 5, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Stockton. Burial was in Stockton Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the St. Thomas Altar Society and may be sent to 723 N. 1st, Stockton, KS 67669.
