Don’t Miss Logan’s Labor Day Celebration: Cars, Contests, and Fireworks Await on September 6
Labor Day weekend is just around the corner, and in Logan, that means it’s nearly time for the much-anticipated 48th Annual Hansen Museum Labor Day Celebration!
Before diving into all the festivities planned for this year, here’s an important reminder: though it’s known as the Labor Day Celebration, the event always takes place on the Sunday before Labor Day. This year, the celebration falls on Sunday, September 6th, at the scenic Logan Golf Course. Mark your calendars—this is one day you won’t want to miss!
Festivities kick off with the Dane G. Bales Jr. Memorial Car Show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.—no entry fee required. This year’s star attraction is a stunning 1955 Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria, proudly owned by Linda Artz. Car lovers will delight in exploring the impressive lineup, chatting with owners, and cheering for their favorite entries as awards are presented.
The excitement doesn’t stop there. At 11 a.m., the Sand Volleyball Tournament serves up some friendly competition, while the Kids’ Pedal Tractor Pull and the Logan Fire Department Cornhole Tournament both get rolling at 2 p.m., with registration opening at 1 p.m. Youngsters can also enjoy free face painting, temporary tattoos courtesy of Color Me Crazy! Face Painting, plus inflatables and a variety of games throughout the day.
Come hungry and ready to sample local flavors! The Junior Class will be serving up lunch and supper at their booth, so you can support local students while enjoying a great meal. Other delicious options abound, with the Triple C Lemonade trailer, Buck’s Snow Shack, and The Corn Kettle offering sweet and savory treats all day long.
As afternoon fades into evening, prepare for an outstanding live music experience! The Innocence, a talented band from Kearney, Nebraska, takes the stage at 5:30 p.m. With five gifted musicians and a diverse repertoire spanning genres and eras, there’s sure to be something for everyone. Whether you’re singing along to a classic hit or dancing to a new favorite, this is the perfect way to spend a summer night. Bring a lawn chair, relax, and soak in the sounds under the open sky.
When the last notes fade, the celebration is far from over. At dusk, Rainbow Fireworks of Inman, Kansas, will ignite the night with a spectacular fireworks display—a beloved highlight and the perfect grand finale for a day packed with fun.
The Hansen Museum Labor Day Celebration has grown into a cherished tradition, brimming with classic cars, friendly competitions, music, mouthwatering food, and plenty of family fun. It’s the perfect opportunity to reconnect with friends and neighbors. Thanks to the Dane G. Hansen Foundation’s generosity, admission and activities are free—just bring some spending money for food and treats!
