Laura Jeanne Fellhoelter, age 57, of Rexford, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2026, in Colby, Kansas, surrounded by family.

She was born on July 12, 1969, in Norton, Kansas, to Junior and Loretta Niblock. She grew up in Logan and graduated from Logan High School in 1988. She later attended Cloud County Community College and Fort Hays State University. She was a standout athlete in both high school and college. She broke numerous track and field records in high school, college, and all over the nation. Many still stand today.

In 1996, she married Lane Rush, and together they welcomed Kynndra (Rush) Duell and Wade Rush. In 2016, she met the love of her life, Steve Fellhoelter, and they were married in 2019. Together, they shared seven years of marriage and built a life centered around family, farming, and raising cattle. She could often be found working in her large garden, spending hours canning and baking, helping with chores, or simply enjoying the life she and Steve had built together. That same determination carried Laura through the final chapter of her life. She fought hard until the very end, determined to earn one more title she treasured above all others: Grandma. She was blessed to meet her granddaughter, Rowan Jeanne Rush, a gift that brought her tremendous joy.

For 33 years, Laura devoted her professional life to teaching, coaching, and driver’s education. To generations of students, she was known simply as Mrs. Fellhoelter or Coach Fellhoelter. But what she taught extended far beyond the classroom, the court, the field, or the driver’s seat. She was the teacher who made every student feel like they mattered. It is impossible to count how many students she taught, coached, encouraged, and challenged.

More than anything, Laura loved her family. She loved gathering everyone together, cooking for a crowd, playing cards, and making sure no one ever left her home hungry. Those who knew and loved Laura will remember her kindness, her incredible work ethic, her ability to coach just about any sport, her devotion to her students and family, and, of course, her unforgettable homemade chicken noodles and cinnamon rolls.

Laura is survived by her husband Stephen; her children Kynndra and Adam Duell and Wade and Kaylie Rush; her granddaughter Rowan Jeanne Rush; her siblings Phil Niblock, Joan (Rex) Jamison, Dale (Berneta) Niblock, Lee (Theresa) Niblock, Ray (Stephanie) Niblock, Terry Niblock, Gary (Sheila) Niblock and Paul (Jenny) Niblock; and many beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Junior and Loretta Niblock; her in-laws, Boniface and Anastasia (Daisy) Fellhoelter; and Rolland and Merna Rush.

Laura leaves behind a legacy of love, service, teaching, coaching, hard work, and devotion to family that will live on through the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026, from 5-7:00 pm at Baalmann Mortuary in Colby, with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m. A funeral will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Angelus. Burial will follow at the St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery.
