* On Tuesday, March 3rd, skywatchers will get a front row seat to witness a total lunar eclipse where the full moon shifts into a rich copper red gold. This occurs when the Earth passes directly between the Sun and the Moon, cutting off direct sunlight and draping the Moon in Earth’s shadow. It is called a Blood Moon, and the best view of this eclipse will be from the Americas, Australia, and parts of East Asia.

* I was typing the 56 Years Ago column a few days ago and read that the movie being shown at the Nova Theatre was “Charly.” It was adapted from the short story, “Flowers for Algernon,” by Daniel Keyes. It won the Hugo Award (best short story in 1960) and the Nebula Award (best novel in 1966). I highly recommend the book or the movie. Years ago, Stockton High School performed the play.

* I love grape pop and grape Kool-Aid, so this is exactly right….Grape flavored things do not taste like grapes, but they do taste like purple and no, I will not be explaining this further.

* I am a “Dawson’s Creek” fan and I am truly saddened with the passing of James Van Der Beek. He was a great Dawson and I still watch the show on occasion, but have to say I am Team Pacey. And did anyone ever watch him in “Texas Rangers” and “Mrs. Miracle?” And who can forget his “Dancing with the Stars” performance to “Pirates of the Caribbean?
