* I promise to start eating better this month as soon as I finish off those cherry chip cookies I have in my cookie jar.

* Things to do in October: Go pumpkin picking, Take a hike, Go apple picking, Take a bike ride, Enjoy a hay ride, Eat a caramel apple, Go to a pumpkin patch, Play a game of football, or attend a football game, Jump in a pile of leaves, Get out your hoodies and sweatshirts, Make s’mores, Decorate your house for fall, Carve or paint a pumpkin, Curl up on the couch with a good book, Host a potluck, Watch some Halloween movies, Plant some fall flowers, Visit a Farmers’ Market, and Enjoy the Autumn colors.

* You all know me and my hollyhocks. I have a few more stray ones popping up this fall all around my yard, with one brave little sprout growing up in the middle of my rock driveway! I will try to keep it safe until next spring when I will transplant it by my back fence.
* I miss the Solomon Valley Antique Association and the yearly event they held around this time of year. Getting to see how all those antique machines used to work was pretty cool.
* And remember when there would be an evening at the school where the ladies and gentlemen of the area would show the public how they worked their crafts? There would be bread baking, crochet, needlepoint, sewing, woodworking, making flour from wheat, etc.
* Here are a few good ones to smile at….. “It’s that time of year when I get to pretend the five pounds of candy I’m buying is for the trick-or-treaters.”
“Do clouds ever look down on us and say ‘that one is shaped like an idiot.’” “I hate when people accuse me of lollygagging when I am clearly dilly dallying.”
