What Stocktonites Were Doing 94 Years Ago
Miss Ruby Dotson and Miss Flossie Gaumer, both of Beloit, are opening a beauty shop inside the Maris store this week. The ladies are experienced in beauty work and come to this city highly-recommended. Miss Gaumer is known to a few Stockton ladies; she had them as customers while she operated a shop in Beloit. The two ladies are going to outfit the shop with the very latest in fixtures, and being experienced operators, they should demand a good patronage.
Adventure-loving citizens of this community will get a real thrill next Monday and Tuesday at the Star Theater when they see the official pictures of the Byrd Exposition to the South Pole. The Star Theater has been fortunate in securing this picture earlier than most cities have been able to get it. A number of Stockton residents have seen the picture in city theaters during the past few weeks. Without exception, they report it as one of the most interesting presentations of a significant historical event they have ever seen. For many minutes the screen reproduces the actual photographic reels taken by the expedition photographer as the aero plane circled over the South Pole.
