A new game in town!
The Rooks County Historical Society and Museum is proud to announce the Farm Life Photo Contest at the Rooks County Free Fair. The contest provides an opportunity to showcase favorite farm-related photographs from yesterday or years ago. Visitors will be able to view sights, citizens, and events depicting Rooks County’s agricultural experiences. Farm Photo Contest category rules can be found on the Rooks County Free Fair website and at the Rooks County Historical Society. Go to the Fair’s website home page and enter the Forms and Payments location to find the photo contest information. Drop by the Rooks County Historical Society and Museum with questions and contest entries, or call the Historical Society for details. Farm Photo entries need to be brought to the Museum no later than Tuesday, August 6th.
Entry categories include ‘Field Work,’ ‘Livestock,’ ‘Farmsteads/Buildings,’ ‘Farm Women at Work,’ ‘Farm Children,’ ‘Farm Families,’ ‘Farm Gatherings and Meetings,’ and ‘Historical Farm Events.’
Entries should be submitted as copies and not the original photograph. The size of the entry should be 5”x7” or 8”x10”, but any size photograph can be entered into the contest. Matting, if used, will not be included in the required entry size. Entries will be evaluated by content and interest, not professional photography skills.
The Rooks County Historical Museum’s Jean Lindsey Resource Center holds a vast collection of photographs depicting all aspects of the County’s communities and history. The photograph contest is an opportunity for the Rooks County archives to expand, preserve, and protect the farm history for future generations of Rooks County citizens.
The Historical Society is looking forward to providing a glimpse into the County’s agricultural experiences and invites everyone to come join the fun.
