Cheyenne Hoeting places third in 1600M Run to earn a trip to State
Sets new school record in the event
Cheyenne Hoeting was the only Tiger to earn a trip to the 2024 KSHSAA State Track and Field Championships this Friday and Saturday, placing third in the 1600 Meter Run at last Thursday’s very competitive 1A Regional Track Meet in Washington. Her time of 5:39.18 not only qualified her for State, but she set a new school record, as well, breaking the old record which Jill Stephens had held since 2017, by six seconds.
Hoeting just missed another trip to State at Cessna Stadium in Wichita in the 3200 Meter Run as she finished fifth, just one spot out of qualifying.
The remainder of the Lady Tigers’ points came from Ava Dix, who placed seventh in the 200 Meter Dash, Saj Snyder, who was seventh in the 300 Meter Hurdles, and the 4 x 100 Meter Relay of Ava Dix, Katlyn Couse, Jayana Creighton, and Jalia Creighton, which also finished in seventh place.
Isaac Thayer and Zach Young each competed for the Stockton boys, and although neither scored any points, Thayer did get a new PR in the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 26.97.
