With 80 percent of the Kansas Fair I70 Series in the books, another Kansas native stands out.

Born in Topeka and currently residing in Mayetta, Scott “Raineman” Raine is a second-generation racer, and has decided to call it quits at the end of this year. However, since Stockton was his late father’s favorite track and his son’s favorite, as well, he is making it a father and son event this year.

Scott started racing flat track in 1988 and obtained his Pro-Am license in 1993. Scott’s son, Cody, joined him at a very early age, and they enjoyed having three generations of the Raine family at the races until his father’s passing in 2018. Although Cody lost interest after his grandfather’s passing, Scott has been consistently on the podium at each event this year, winning his main event at WaKeeney prior to the start of the I70 Series.

Scott has decided to retire from racing at the end of this year, but would be happy to share his wealth of knowledge with anyone who wants to take the time to ask the questions. Therefore, make it a point to go out and join Cody and him, along with the rest of the Kansas talent, as they pit themselves up against some of the fastest racers in the United States and Canada at this year’s Stockton races on August 11th and 12th. This will mark the 118th running of motorcycle racing at this historic venue, making it the oldest continuously running flat track motorcycle event in the United States. Races start at 7 p.m. on Friday night and 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Following the races each night, you are welcome to go down into the pits to meet your favorite competitors.

Knowing that kids are the future of racing, the new promoter this year has a standing policy that “kids race free.” So, if you have kids with motorcycles, bring them out and let them experience for themselves what makes Stockton such a remarkable place to race.
