Reward offered after horses shot and killed in rural Kansas
WABAUNSEE COUNTY—Two horses were shot and killed from the road by an unknown assailant in the vicinity of Bradford and Mission Valley Road northeast of Eskridge in rural Wabaunsee County over the February 1st weekend, according to Wabaunsee County Sheriff Eric Kirsch. These horses were used for therapy for veterans and first responders suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. The sheriff's office is devoting the full might of its investigative resources toward the relentless pursuit and capture of those responsible for this reprehensible atrocity against these beautiful, innocent, and defenseless animals. “The animals were taken to K-State for forensic examination, and the sheriff's office is treating this like a homicide. Scam call cost Kansas couple $45,000.00
SALINE COUNTY—Law enforcement is investigating a scam call in which a couple lost over $45,000.00. On January 30th, a couple received a phone message from a financial technology company, 'Robinhood,' that a PIN change for their cryptocurrency account was requested, according to Sheriff Roger Soldan. The message further stated that if they did not ask for the change, they would need to contact the provided telephone number. Afterwards, the couple contacted the number and spoke with a man with a British accent. Throughout the conversation, the couple provided account information, believing they were updating and securing their accounts. A few hours later, the couple checked their account and discovered that 8 coins, valued at $45,866.00, had been taken from it. Aircraft came to rest upside down in the snow at Kansas airport
BUTLER COUNTY—A Kansas pilot avoided injury after a mishap just after 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 31st, in Butler County. The Kansas Highway Patrol reported that, during the fourth take-off attempt, a 2023 Cessna Ascent, piloted by a 40-year-old Wichita woman, began to track towards the left side of the runway at the August Municipal Airport. The aircraft continued to drift left, and control inputs were applied to maintain centerline and regain directional control. The aircraft continued traveling to the left, entered the snow area, and came to rest upside down. The pilot was not injured. The NTSB and FAA will investigate (Hays Post)
