Thursday morning house fire in Stockton claims life
Cause of the fire is still undetermined

THE HOUSE FIRE early Thursday morning at 707 South First in Stockton is currently under investigation.
The Stockton Fire Department was called to a structure fire in Stockton, on Thursday, November 9th, 2023, in the early morning. Search & Rescue located the body of Kenton Saum, age 60, inside the structure.
Kansas State Fire Marshall’s Office has been called to assist Stockton Fire and the Rooks County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation. Additional information will be released after the conclusion of this investigation.
The exact cause of the fire is undetermined. The fire is believed to have originated inside the house and no foul play is suspected.
The Stockton Fire Department was called to the scene at 6:22 a.m. after a neighbor seeing flames coming out of the windows called 9-1-1. The Plainville Fire Department was called for mutual aid. The firefighters were on site until 11:00 p.m. that evening.
