4-H and FFA Livestock Sale to be held Fri., Aug. 8th

Come support the Rooks County youth at the 4-H and FFA Livestock Sale on Friday, August 8th. The event will be held at the Sutor-Blauer Arena at the Rooks County Fairgrounds.

The Buyers’ Hospitality Hour will begin at 5:00 p.m. with the sale to start promptly at 6:00 p.m. Market Lambs, Market Steers, Market Goats and Market Hogs will be sold. If you have any questions, please call Tom Benoit at 785-839-4378 or 785-737-3874 (cell).

4-H Food Silent Auction to be held during the Fair

Make plans now to participate in the 4-H Silent Food Auction to be held during the Rooks County Free Fair. The ten items for auction will be on display in Harding Hall and ready for bids by Monday evening, August 4th.

Bids will be accepted until 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 8th. Whoever has the high bid will be the official buyer of the item. The 4-Her will then prepare a new item and deliver it to the buyer. All proceeds will go to the 4-H members, so please support this organization.

The Daily Grind to have food trailer at the Rooks County Free Fair

The Daily Grind in Stockton will have a food trailer at the Rooks County Fairgrounds by the Sutor-Blauer Arena on Tuesday, August 5th, through Friday, August 8th, from 7:00 a.m. until noon during the judging sessions.

This means the Main Street building will be closed for Fair Week, but will reopen on Saturday, August 9th, during its regular business hours.

Nutrien Ag Solutions sponsoring Tallest Corn Contest during the Rooks County Free Fair

Nutrien Ag Solutions is sponsoring the Tallest Corn Plant Contest at this year’s Rooks County Free Fair for all kids from ages two to 18 years of age.

Please check in your plant at the Fair on Monday, August 4th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and receive a FREE Dyna-Gro T-shirt while supplies last!

183 Lanes Hours during Fair Week

183 Lanes in Stockton will be open Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday (August 4th, August 6th, and August 7th) from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.; on Tuesday, August 5th, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; and will be CLOSED ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 8TH, AND SATURDAY, AUGUST 9TH, to the public. They will reopen on Sunday, August 10th, for their regular hours from 4:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (Note that there will be no bowling during the fair.)

The 2025 Rooks County Conservation District Photo Contest is underway!

Here is your chance to showcase Rooks County Conservation through your photography by entering the 2025 Rooks County Conservation District’s Photo Contest.

The contest is open to contestants aged 2 to 18. Entries can be submitted during the Rooks County Free Fair on Sunday, August 3rd, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and on Monday, August 4th, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Open Class Building.

The Grand Prize is $50.00 cash for the best photo that highlights conservation practices in Rooks County.
