Peyton Krob is this year’s Rooks County Spelling Bee Champion
Corbyn Glendening is runner-up
The top four spellers from Stockton Grade School, along with the top four spellers from Damar Grade School, Sacred Heart (Plainville), and Plainville Grade School, competed in the Rooks County Spelling Bee held in Plainville on Wednesday, February 9th.
After battling it out for 13 rounds of alternating spelling words and vocabulary, Peyton Krob (eighth grade) from Plainville was named the Rooks County Spelling Bee Champion after correctly spelling “spiteful” and the winning word, “metadata.” Stockton Grade School Spelling Bee Champion Corbyn Glendening (fourth-grade) is this year’s runner-up.
Representing Stockton Grade School at the Spelling Bee were Corbyn Glendening, Sophia Antonini, Jayana Creighton and Hudson Kriley. Representing their schools in the contest were (Damar) Coy Beesley, Lorene Saindon, Daylen Beesley and Scarlet Maske; (Sacred Heart) Cayden Klein, Quinton Maddox, Macie Stahl and Kinsley Casey; and (Plainville) Travis Cavanaugh, Peyton Krob, Jazmine Kastle and Channing Oehm. Students made their way to the county spelling bee by being the top for spellers in their classroom, and then placing in the top four in their school’s spelling bees.

Peyton will represent Rooks County at the Sunflower State Spelling Bee, which will be held in Wichita on Saturday, March 26th.
