Merry Christmas from the Sentinel staff to all of you

This issue of the Stockton Sentinel features our twenty-fifth edition of our special holiday sections, “Santa’s ‘Deer Ones.”

Our readers look forward to this special feature, containing children’s “Letters to Santa” from grades one through four, Christmas greeting ads from local merchants and sponsors, and all the 140 wonderful pictures which our readers have submitted.

Last year’s offering of Santa’s ‘Deer Ones included 124 pictures, which is an increase of 16 pictures.

Each year, we never know how many pictures we’ll end up with. To the staff, it felt as if they were close if not over last year’s total. So thank you, thank you, thank you to all of you who contributed to this special issue, helping assure us we have your support for this issue and solidifying its continuation.

We especially want to thank the teachers at the grade School: Kari Becker, Angel Rhoden, Jen Kesler, Martha Fleck, Tricia Hemphill and Kelly Brown for taking the time to help make this issue possible with the “Letters to Santa” from the students.

Every year while putting together this issue, we are reminded of those who have lost loved ones who won’t be with us this year, so we composed an “In Remembrance” section at the end of our feature once again. This year’s page exceeded the usual one page—including an additional half page.

We are happy with the response we get each year and are pleased to note that since we began 26 years ago, the issue has been enjoyed by many over and over again. Yes, it’s been 26 years as we skipped one year during that time due to an upgrade of computers.

We can’t begin to thank you enough for your support each day throughout this past year. Without your support—whether it be advertising or the submission of news— there wouldn’t be a local paper.
