The Rooks County Vision Leadership Program is now accepting applications for the 2024 class. The Vision Leadership program is a project of Rooks County Economic Development with a purpose of developing leaders who will have the skills and capacities to move the communities of Rooks County forward.

Leadership for the twenty- first century includes a thorough understanding of the assets as well as the needs of their community. Community leaders must have skills and understanding, as well as a sense of responsibility, caring and compassion for others, the desire to serve, and to give back.

The program involves four sessions held on Wednesday evenings in October. Each session will include learning a new leadership skill or capacity. A celebration of class accomplishments is normally held in December.

Dates of the sessions are: October 2, 16, 23, and 30. The first session runs from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and each remaining session runs from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. A meal is served at the beginning of each session and is included in the tuition cost.

Each class session will be held in the upstairs meeting room of the Rooks County Health Department in Stockton.

Class members will have the opportunity to use their leadership skills for the direct betterment of the community through a group or individual project. Class members are free to determine their project based on their vision for the community.

Tuition for the Rooks County Vision Leadership Program is $30 per person, which includes all program materials, meals, and social functions. Tuition can be paid by a business or organization for a participant, or an individual can pay his or her own tuition. Scholarships are available for anyone wanting to participate that may not have the ability to pay.

A diversified group of up to 15 participants will be selected from the applicants to the program. All participants are expected to attend all sessions.

Applications are available online at www.rookscounty. net/vision-leadership or by calling the Economic Development office at (785) 425-6881 or sending an e-mail to rooksed@ ruraltel.net. The deadline for completed applications is September 24, 2024.
