Rooks County continues to see a high number of new COVID-19 cases (65 over the last week) and still has a positivity rate of more than 40% this week. RCH reports they are still having difficulty finding receiving hospitals when patients require transfer to a higher level of care. With families gathering during the Thanksgiving holiday, we expect a further increase in the number of cases during the next two weeks and plan to modify our extracurricular activities to minimize the risk of transmission at a school-based event. Beginning Monday, November 30th, there will be no spectators allowed at athletic contests, both junior high and high school. We are planning to live stream all events.

At this time, USD 271 plans to return to in-person learning for the week of November 30 - December 4, 2020 for Pk-12. If there is any adjustment required to the learning setting due to concerns in the schools, we will update your family quickly following a decision.

We would like to ask the community to help us keep our schools open by helping reduce the spread in the community. This can be accomplished by wearing face coverings, implementing social distancing, practicing good hand hygiene, and limiting social gatherings. Please keep all students home if they are feeling ill.

We appreciate the support of the community as we work through these issues each week. It is important for us to work together to keep our students, staff, and community safe.  Your efforts are noticed and appreciated.   Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
