The Rooks County Historical Society met at the museum on Sunday, March 20, at 2:00 p.m. President Alan Dinkel led the meeting with nine members attending. The February minutes and the treasurer’s report were given. Sue McFarland, museum coordinator, gave her report that the museum had 45 visitors last month, sixty-five “Names on the Wall” have been published, fifteen donors’ names have been processed, and the schoolroom and washroom displays are near completion.

A group of Stockton 7th graders and adults toured the museum on February 27. Each student was required, as a class assignment, to write about their impressions and what they had learned from their tour. Doug Morris, who helped with the tour, has plans to present a program to the students about “The Great Depression.”

Plans for the Rooks County Historical Annual Meeting were discussed. Tony McReynolds will be the guest speaker.

Plans for the Fall Festival were made which include hiring the Reach for the Sky Bluegrass Band to perform. Flyers will be sent out to the public asking for Antique Engine enthusiasts to participate by showing their machines.

A plan for “personal time off” for the museum employees was discussed and will be developed. Alan Dinkel and Sandi

Alan Dinkel and Sandi Rogers will attend the next Rooks County Commissioners meeting to report on the museum and invite them to visit the museum.

Alan Dinkel demonstrated an image camera and its uses. It was voted to purchase a similar camera to be used at the museum.

Alan Dinkel appointed Donna Griebel and Roger Morris to serve as the nominating committee for future board members to be elected at the annual meeting in April.

Volunteers and visitors are always welcome at the Rooks County Museum. People wanting help with collecting family history will find information and valuable assistance with research.
