Change is inevitable, even as much as we might try to resist it. To say that we are going through a period of extreme change is an understatement. With the advent of COVID-19, who is to say what tomorrow, next month, or even next year will look like?

Holy Week in 2020 was certainly different than anything most of us have ever experienced. Not being able to meet together certainly challenged our Easter traditions. So, what are we to learn from our experience? Pastor Brian, in his Easter video message, used the Holy Week experience of over 2000 years ago to put everything into context. When Jesus came into

When Jesus came into Jerusalem on a donkey the people hailed him as a prophet saying, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.” It had to be an amazing sight. But by Thursday, things had changed. Jesus was then talking to his disciples about what was going to happen.

The disciples struggled with this change. How could someone that was just hailed as a prophet in this seemingly triumphal entry into Jerusalem now be talking about being betrayed, and even more unbelievable, that the disciples themselves would deny Jesus? What had changed?

It all had to do with their view of Jesus and why he was here on earth. Didn’t they understand? The fact is, the disciples had an image of what they thought Jesus was, and being crucified and dying was not in that image.

What does your image of Christ look like? We too have a tendency to paint Jesus in our own image. We expect Him to be as WE see him. But God has told us that he is the ”I Am.” It is a timeless name that is never changing. God (the Trinity) is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Our God is unchanging. After Jesus’ death, the

After Jesus’ death, the Apostles changed again. They believed. They remembered all that Jesus had said. They came out of hiding and proclaimed His word. They were courageous and powerful in their words. Jesus changes everything.

Let go of your image of God, and let Him change you. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” Let go of your image of God, and let Him in and He will change you.

Thank you to all of you who have been helping with our virtual church services. God bless you! First Christian Church in Plainville will continue to offer online services through You Tube and Facebook until we can once again meet in person as a church body.
