Since The Daily Grind opened March 29th, 2021, owner Chelsey Peterson has been overwhelmed with the tremendous support she has received from the community of Stockton. So much so, she was finally able to find the time to give this Sentinel reporter the finishing touches so this story could appear in this week’s pages of the Stockton Sentinel.

If you haven’t yet stopped by The Daily Grind, Chelsey invites you to come on down for that first cup of coffee in the morning because the coffee is brewing and the baked goods are fresh at The Daily Grind (303 Main Street) in Stockton!

The new bakery/coffee shop is serving the community in many delicious ways! First off, The Daily Grind has its own house blend, a special coffee featured every day, as well as espressos, lattes and mochas. Chai teas, flavored ice teas and fruit smoothies are also on the menu, along with kids’ drink specials, which include mini mochas and little lattes.

Already known for her delicious baked goods, Chelsey has an array of these delightful pastries for her customers to choose from starting with cinnamon rolls, cakes, pies and muffins and a Hot Breakfast Special every morning. At this time Chelsey’s Breakfast Specials are Biscuits and Gravy on Mondays, Bacon Taquito on Tuesdays, Breakfast Bowl on Wednesdays, Breakfast Burrito on Thursdays, and Cook’s Choice on Fridays. Plus, daily Lunch Specials are in the works for her customers and will be announced at a later date. So stay tuned!

But that’s not all The Daily Grind offers since the business does catering for weddings, family reunions, etc., as well as custom orders of cinnamon rolls when people have a special occasion to celebrate.

And celebrate they do because Chelsey states, “I have mixed and hand rolled over 1,720 cinnamon rolls during her first month of being open!” How’s that for a record?

The décor of the establishment is warm and inviting with the tantalizing smell of coffee an added bonus. At this time there is seating for 16 due to social distancing with plans to have outdoor seating on the west side of the building later this spring or summer. Curbside delivery is also being offered for those who call in their coffee orders at 785-415-2253.

Audrey Rahjes designed the brown and teal logo for Chelsey’s business, which will soon have t-shirts for sale. And make sure to pick up a punch card if you haven’t alredy! After your card is punched for ten drinks, you get the next cup for free!

The Daily Grind’s current hours are from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturdays. Please check out the Facebook page for daily specials since the page will feature a Latte of the Week at a discounted price and what’s in the case for the day, as well as any fundraisers, giveaways or specials.

“Opening a bakery is something I’ve wanted to do for years,” Chelsey said.

“A lot of my oldest memories of my grandmas were in their kitchens, either watching them or helping them. I started helping my grandma Theresa cater before I was old enough to drive and I continued to help her until she retired. I think everyone should have to work in food service sometime in their life. It instills in you character traits that you just can't get in any other job. I couldn't have made this leap without the support of my husband, and I pray my girls will see me following my dream and know that they can do the same.”

(Please call in a week ahead of time for special baked orders, and as soon as possible for catering services so the events can be put on the calendar.)
